goodbye hsbc! hello imcb (institute of molecular and cell biology) =) my last day at hsbc on 31st jan was reallie memorable..hahah...the sun was exceptionally bright..weather was breezy..birds were chirping exceptionally loud and clear..ok..enough nonsense..but i was exceptionally light-hearted that day..i guess most of the last days at work are like that...work there has been reallie enjoyable cos of my crazy collegues along with our silly rubbish=)=) thanks guys! and they are super sweet la! they got me this mini pinkish water dispenser and a mini torchlight whose light beams shine out frm the pig's nostrils as well as percy pig frm marks and spencer..ihahaha..seriously, i was staring at the water dispenser..extremely bewildered..trust them to get sth like that..hahha..the water dispenser's reallie cute but it's damn malu to carry it ard the office la! and jason i dno why u so sweh but an rj girl called kelly and managed to get a one month contract at hsbc..haha..u must be damn pissed. but yr contract was extended at lockton ride..so u wont even be able to start work on 29th jan -____- moving on..ard mid jan or so..the week before i quit my job at hsbc..i was actually working at venture era which is a network marketing company that sells biomedical products..it's like multi-level marketing. so at first i thought the whole concept was reallie interesting and the products had very high credibility and all..so i decided to give it a shot and i went for their training for two days..budden on the 2nd day i wasnt very comfortable with the whole idea abt selling these products to yr relatives whom u have to make small talk with them on the phone to arrange a meeting without mentioning anything abt selling stuff to them...i guess it's necessary to do that for those in the sales industry but i wasnt comfortable with it at all..i mean if u wana meet them to sell them stuff just tell them straight la! even if it's through the phone..anyway..so i told my dad abt it..and yar..he was like strongly against it..cos there's no professionalism in this..like u can just get any tom dick or harry off frm the street to sell yr goods..and the people there kept stressing abt oh..what's more impt is whose health u wanna benefit... but if they are so concerned abt the health of others..why not just liase with doctors whose words have so much more credibility compared to ppl like us..-______- im sorry...but i cant see the concept behind this whole idea.. moreover, i received a reply frm imcb who accepted me for a student assistantship program..so bye bye venture era...phew...i felt bad abt leaving venture era cos they have invested their time and effort into training me...but sorry, i have no intention of staying there any longer.. then after slacking for a pathetically short period of 4 days..i started my internship at imcb on 5th feb. wahhhhhhhh...i tell you...the environment there's reallie a DRASTIC change frm hsbc...i took almost a week to adjust to the env and lab work there..and im still abit blur abt the all the equipment and experiments cos it's nothing like school lab work at all.. the thing im not used to is that it's sooooooooooooooooo QUIET so much so that u can even hear a flea flying past. 0___0 and my first three days there were 70% miserable and 30% intrigued..miserable cos there was no one i cld talk to except my supervisor and i had sooooooooooo much time to slack ard cos firstly i was new to all these so i didnt have much i cld do..and secondly..there are many intervals (hrs) while performing an experiment cos need time to wait for stuff..soooooo...i practically spent most of my time surfing the net and reading protocols 0_________0 intrgued cos of the exposure to all the lab equipment and the diff techniques..oh yar..i love wearing the lab coat too=) hahaha..it's very comfy and makes u feel pro..so im in my lab coat most of the time even when im not performing any experiments..haha it finally got better on thursday and friday..cos the rest started to open up...and u can oso see the drastic change in me..i went frm 20 sentences per min in hsbc to 1 sentence per hr in imcb...sometimes not even one sentence. rahhhhhh...it's torturous can..but ive gradually gotten used to it... oh..and onto my pay at imcb...700 BEFORE cpf...i guess it's higher than usual for most internships but it's still pathetic! 500 plus after cpf..sobx. so that's abt my life now..hahaha...im soooo looking forward to weekends..and i cant wait for jap lessons to start. |
